The Science

The ocean and the body share a chemistry.

A clear, scientific explanation of how isotonic seawater hydrates, remineralizes and restores balance.

01 · Isotonicity

What does isotonic mean?

A liquid is isotonic when its dissolved mineral concentration matches the osmotic pressure of human blood plasma — approximately 9 grams per liter. In this balanced state, water and minerals cross the intestinal wall freely, without forcing the body to redistribute fluids.

02 · Seawater

Why seawater is the original electrolyte solution.

Raw seawater contains roughly 35 g/L of dissolved minerals — about three times the concentration of blood. When diluted to one-third with pure spring water, its mineral ratio becomes biologically identical to human extracellular fluid. This was first demonstrated by physiologist René Quinton in 1897.

03 · Electrolytes

The four that drive your body.

Sodium regulates fluid balance and nerve signaling. Potassium powers muscle contraction. Magnesium supports more than 300 enzymatic reactions. Calcium governs cellular communication. Hydrosea delivers all four in their natural marine ratio, with no synthetic substitutes.

04 · Trace minerals

The 74 elements modern diets quietly miss.

Zinc, iodine, selenium, lithium, manganese, chromium and more — present in seawater because they were present in the cells that evolved from it. Modern agriculture has depleted these minerals from soil and food. The ocean still holds them, in the exact proportions life requires.

05 · Source

Cold-current Mediterranean seawater.

Hydrosea is drawn from a protected zone where deep cold currents rise to the surface — naturally rich in plankton-derived minerals and free from coastal contamination. The water is cold micro-filtered through ceramic membranes, never heated, never chemically treated. The mineral structure stays alive.

Hydration is not invented. It is remembered.
